Lonzi Necklace

£180

A modern black chain-link necklace, featuring a scarlet statement piece - Made in Italy.

To remember and honour the identities of the women that inspire us and whose stories we wish to celebrate, we have named each piece of jewellery after a female pioneer at the forefront of Italian history.

This necklace has been named in honour of Carla Lonzi, an art critic, writer and feminist intellectual. She was a leading art critic in Italy, who gained considerable recognition with the publication of her book Autorittratto. A progressive critique of identity construction, her most famous literary work consists of snippets from interviews she led with prominent artists such as Cy Twombly, Lucio Fontana, and Carla Accardi. In 1970, after the publication of her book, Lonzi shifted her focus from art to feminism, and became increasingly active in the Italy’s women movement. In 1970, together with the artist Carla Accardi and journalist Elvira Banotti, she co-founded Rivolta Femminile, a feminist collective that set up Italy’s first feminist publishing house, devoted to printing and distributing feminist literature in Italy. Today, she is celebrated as the author of some of the most progressive and provocative texts and manifestos of Italian Feminism. As a central character in the women’s movement in Italy she facilitated and moved forward and feminist discourse on a nationwide platform.

All of our jewellery is created by sourcing the highest quality Italian-made beads, and carefully hand-made in Milan. We want the best for you so please see the steps below to best take care of your Pietrasanta jewellery.

The wiring, clasps and studs may tarnish naturally over time -  cleaning your jewellery with a lint-free cloth & storing it in a dark spot can avoid this. Avoid contact with perfumes, sprays, cosmetics, creams, humidity and extreme temperatures, as it might damage the resin and metal parts. When travelling with your jewellery, it's a good idea to store it in a rigid box to avoid external pressures from damaging your statement pieces. All of our jewellery comes with a branded pouch and presentation box to help you take the best care of your jewellery.
